Senior constable suspended after tasering 95yo NSW great-grandmother

A senior police constable who tasered a 95-year-old great-grandmother in her nursing home has been suspended from duty, with pay.

Clare Nowland fell and fractured her skull last week, after she was tasered by the senior constable who had been called to her aged-care home in Cooma, because she was carrying a knife.

She remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Her family has issued a statement describing her as a “loving and gentle natured matriarch” who is a “much-loved and a giving member of her local community”.

Police say investigations are continuing into the critical incident.
