The USMNT held England to a 0-0 tie on Friday and produced an impressive display against a tournament favorite. There is an added sense of anticipation around Gregg Berhalter’s men as the US is a World Cup co-host in 2026.
For Iran, meanwhile, it was a much improved display in the 2-0 win over Wales. Iran started the World Cup with a heavy 6-2 defeat by England but Queiroz’s men turned things around against Wales with a vital win.
A draw against USA would likely take them through – unless Wales causes a shock and beats England in the other Group B game.
