Fake French fan sparked brawl with Socceroos supporters at 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup fan event

The ‘French’ fan who was involved in a wild brawl at a World Cup fan event in Melbourne has outed himself as an Australian with Ukrainian heritage that just wanted to create some trouble for social media ‘cred’. 

A World Cup screening party at Federation Square in Melbourne for Australia’s match against France descended into violence as Socceroos fans turned on a small group of men who appeared to be Les Bleus supporters,

Thousands were packed into Melbourne’s iconic square, and scenes were jubilant after the Socceroos scored the opening goal through Craig Goodwin.

From there, it descended very quickly as the French completely routed the Aussies to win 4-1, though they should have won by far more – such was their complete dominance after the opening goal.
