Michael Sheen v Prince William: Locals tell actor to ‘shut up’ over World Cup row


Michael Sheen appears to have taken yet another swipe at Prince William by sharing a clip of Welsh children cheering Gareth Bale and the national team before they left for Qatar after he ignited a row over whether the new Prince of Wales should have done the same.

Mr Sheen, 53, once one of Britain’s top actors who stepped back to focus on political activism including Welsh independence, shared a Channel 4 News clip of Gareth Bale and his teammates training in Cardiff before jetting to Doha.

The tweet is viewed as another slight on William after Sheen accused the heir to the throne of not showing ‘a shred of embarrassment’ when he visited England’s St George’s Park training centre on Monday where he presented them with shirts for the World Cup in Qatar and wished them well.

William hit back subtly yesterday by insisting he will ‘support both teams’ – but has never been split at a World Cup before  because Wales have never made the tournament since 1958. Some critics of Mr Sheen,…
