DeSantis WILL speak with Biden after president faced criticism for not calling ahead of hurricane

Joe Biden will call Ron DeSantis after the president received a slew of criticism for failing to reach out to the GOP governor ahead of Hurricane Ian hitting landfall in Florida.

The president will speak on the phone with DeSantis at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Florida governor’s daily schedule released Tuesday evening.

Biden will make the call while he is en route by motorcade to a Democratic Governors Association reception in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday evening.

Hurricane Ian was upgraded to a category 3 storm on Tuesday and by the time it hits the Gulf Coast of Florida on Wednesday night, it could reach category 4. Winds have already surpassed 125 miles per hour.

Biden spoke with the mayors of three Florida towns on the western coast of the Sunshine State on Tuesday, two Democrats and one Republican, raising questions over why he had not engaged in a conversation directly with DeSantis.
