FBI whistleblower claims bureau is ‘deliberately manipulating’ January 6 cases to fit the ‘political narrative’ that domestic violent extremism is widespread across the US, Republican Jim Jordan says

  • GOP Rep. Jim Jordan said FBI whistleblowers told him the agency is ‘deliberately manipulating’ January 6 case files so extremism looks more widespread 
  • In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray dated Monday, Jordan shared with the Trump-appointee what he’d been told 
  • Cases were originating where suspects live ‘to create a false and misleading narrative that domestic violent extremism is increasing around the country’ 
  • Jordan also told Wray that whistleblowers told him January 6 cases were being given precedent over ‘child sexual abuse material investigations’ 
  • Jordan, a top ally of Trump’s, has been encouraging federal officials to come forward as whistleblowers since the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago last month
