President Biden tore into Vladimir Putin during an address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as he said the Russian president ‘shamelessly violated’ the UN charter by invading Ukraine.
‘A permanent member of the United Nations Security Council invaded its neighbor,’ the president began his words before world leaders. ‘Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations charter.’
‘Just today, President Putin has made overt nuclear threats against Europe, reckless disregard for the responsibilities of the non-proliferation regime,’ the president said, noting that Russia is now calling up more soldiers to fight.
‘A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought,’ Biden said. ‘Russia shunned the non-proliferation ideals.’
‘This war is about extinguishing Ukraine’s right to exist as a state – plain and simple,’ he said. ‘That should make your blood run cold.’
