Sarah Mudge: Brisbane, New Beith mum who killed Stanley Obi wrote chilling note before crime

A mother-of-four who firebombed her ex’s house while her children slept had claimed in an earlier Facebook post that if she and her kids ended up dead, it would be murder. 

Sarah Mudge, 30, broke into Stanley Obi’s house in New Beith, in Brisbane’s south, at 2.55am on Thursday, doused him and his new girlfriend in petrol, and set them alight while her three kids were in the next room.

His new partner, 30, and children managed to escape the inferno before the father-of-two was dragged out by a brave neighbour, but he died in hospital from catastrophic burns.

Mudge was unable to escape the flames before they engulfed the home. Her scorched body was recovered in the wreckage by emergency workers.

While detectives believe that Mudge had started the blaze, the mother-of-four wrote a disturbing post four months ago saying she would never take her own life, or the lives of her children.
