Google and other major search engines will be forced to remove harmful of abusive content or face huge fines as part of new cyber laws in Australia. 

The Online Safety Act, which comes into effect on January 23, will mean sites will have 24 hours to remove the harmful material or companies will face fines of $555,000 and individuals can be penalised $110,000.
