An urgent recall has been issued for a kids swim shorts range over fears a child’s genitals could become entrapped, causing serious injuries. 

Just Hype Kids’ Swim Shorts were recalled on Wednesday over concerns a child’s genitals could become stuck in the internal mesh of the apparel.

Product Safety Australia warned the mesh holes of the inset were too large and could result in serious injury if a child’s genitals were to become caught.

Just Hype Kids’ Swim Shorts (pictured) have been recalled over concerns a child’s genitals could become stuck in the internal mesh of the shorts 

The alert also said the swim shorts’ drawstring is too long posing an entrapment hazard for children. 

Affected products include Hype Kids swim shorts available in Electric Palm, Digital Camo, Trippy Tye Dye, Colour Paint, Space Pool and Sea Spray.

Customers are encouraged to check the shorts’ inside label or order confirmation for the product codes: YWF-360, NXT-LGSMU-097, NXTQ32B800, VWF-360, VWF-355, YWF-329.

Anyone who purchased the shorts are urged to stop using them immediately and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, including postage.
