A boyfriend who offered to do housework for the first time has suffered a broken leg after he tripped over the vacuum cord and fell down the stairs.

Nathan Marsh, 26, from Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, was forced to spend four weeks resting in bed and six weeks in a cast.

But his fiancee Bethan Watling, 24, didn’t believe he was actually in pain and thought he was just trying to get out of doing the housework.

She told the Sun: ‘When I found him in a pile at the bottom of the stairs, he was tangled in the vacuum cord and couldn’t walk.

‘I thought he was pulling a fast one.’

Eventually Ms Watling realised Mr Marsh wasn’t lying and called an ambulance. But paramedics weren’t able to get him into a wheelchair.

The fire brigade was then called and a window had to be removed before Mr Marsh could be taken out strapped to a board.

And Mr Marsh’s antics have at least got him out of doing housework upstairs. Ms Watling added: ‘I still try and get him to do a bit of cleaning but definitely nothing upstairs.’
