A man has captured the hilarious moment a helpless driver desperately tried to protect his beloved sports car from hail damage.

Jake McGloin shared the video to TikTok on Thursday afternoon when wild storms swept across Sydney.

The motorist can be seen covering his silver Toyota Supra with cardboard boxes and laying on top of the vehicle. 

The dangerous storm brought damaging winds, giant hailstones and heavy rain, which battered Sydney for several hours before moving across New South Wales (Pictured: Penrith blanketed by hailstones)

The footage showed the Toyota Supra in an outdoor car park covered in brown cardboard boxes that were placed on the vehicle’s bonnet, windshield and roof.

The worried motorist had also placed a black rug across the rear window held in place by another large box.

A large number of hailstones fell in the area as the helpless man laid his body across the side of the vehicle to hold the cardboard boxes in place.

As the man put his body on the line for his precious vehicle, he was pummeled with hailstones that he swiftly threw off the car before he adopted a new position. 

The video concluded with the man racing to the front of his vehicle, where he wrapped his arms across the bonnet with his head against the car in the last-ditch effort to save his vehicle.

The video has already garnered over 500,000 views on TikTok, with many users of the social media website commending the motorist for ‘sacrificing’ his body to shield his cherished Supra.

One user wrote: ‘A moment of silence for this champion’s sacrifice.’

‘That’s love right there, putting his body in the firing line,’ wrote another.

Another individual wrote: ‘Guy protecting his baby… priceless.’

While a fifth user wrote: ‘It’s a Supra… car people will understand this sacrifice… a moment of silence.’

The man who was captured in the video confirmed that his beloved Toyota Supra wasn’t harmed during the storm.
