Stephanie Grisham accused of LYING about Jared and Ivanka muscling in on meeting with the Queen

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham’s claim that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump tried to muscle in on a meeting with the Queen is ‘not true’, says the woman who arranged the meeting – and that the monarch specifically invited the former president’s family.

I’ll Take Your Questions Now is Grisham’s new memoir of her time in Donald Trump’s White House, packed with striking insights and scandalous revelations.

But questions by Grisham’s friend and former colleague over one of the anecdotes in the book may be hard for the ex-Trump spin doctor to answer.

Grisham claimed Jared and Ivanka tried to attend a meeting between Queen Elizabeth II, Donald Trump and Melania in June 2019, but were blocked from boarding the Marine One presidential helicopter to Buckingham Palace because there was no room.

But Therese Burch, a former White House staffer who has arranged state visits for Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Donald Trump, told DailyMail.com that an aide to the Queen specifically asked for the president’s family to attend the royal luncheon – and there was no private meeting from which to bar Jared or Ivanka in the first place.

The excerpt appears to be scathing of Trump’s daughter, claiming the first lady and White House staff called Ivanka ‘the Princess’ behind her back and that she would often refer to the president as ‘my father’ in work meetings.

‘I finally figured out what was going on,’ Grisham wrote according to the Post. ‘Jared and Ivanka thought they were the royal family of the United States.’

Burch worked as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Advance and Operations at the White House, arranging state visits for the G20, G7 and Davos summits for several commanders in chief.

Due to her long standing relationship with Buckingham Palace, she was brought in by the Trump administration as a volunteer to coordinate his state visit in June 2019.

‘It’s all false,’ Burch said of Grisham’s sensational anecdote. ‘None of that is true. Ivanka and Jared were included with all of the meetings with the Queen and Prince Charles and everyone, because of their positions in the White House. It had nothing to do with them being daughter and son-in-law.

‘In fact the Queen’s staff came to me and asked me if I could arrange for the president’s family to come to Buckingham Palace early for the state dinner because she said she believes family is very important and she knows the rest of the family is there and would like to meet everyone.

‘So I arranged for all of the family to come meet the Queen prior to the dinner, and then they went out into the receiving line.’

Burch said the request came from Alexander de Montfort, Senior Secretary to the Lord Chamberlain’s Office, a top Buckingham Palace staffer.

And she revealed that after dinner with the royals, as Trump and Melania escorted the Queen out, Burch saw the monarch turn to the president and say: ‘it was very nice to see your family tonight.’

Burch said that all the president’s children and other staff arrived in a motorcade before the president to avoid landing multiple helicopters on the Queen’s lawn.

‘In order for us not to be rude, we didn’t land more than Marine One on the queen’s lawn. We actually motorcaded most of the staff,’ she said.

‘Jared and Ivanka would never be manifested on Marine One because all of the mil-aids, the doctor, the chiefs of staff, all go on Marine One with them,’ she said.

‘But if you look at the pictures, Ivanka and Jared are watching Marine One land from the palace window.

‘There’s a protocol. The president and the first lady, regardless of whether they’re Donald Trump or George Bush who I also walked for, it’s the president of the United States and the first lady comes off Marine One, they go down the path, review the troops, they greet the Queen.’

Providing rare insight into the private meeting between the royals and the first family, Burch revealed that Trump and the Queen’s son Prince Charles got on especially well.

‘I was surprised at how relaxed and comfortable the president and Prince Charles were together,’ she said.

‘In fact when they did the dinner at the ambassador’s residence, Charles came early, he brought his iPad and him and the president sat in the yellow room prior to dinner and Prince Charles was showing him all of his green projects and farm to table projects.

‘They were laughing and talking. It was a very relaxed atmosphere.’

Burch said that Trump and Melania’s tea with Charles and his wife Camilla at their Clarence House residence was also upgraded to a more intimate affair.

‘When the staff arranged the tea with me they talked about having it in the formal greeting area downstairs,’ she said.

‘But the day of, right before President Trump was due to arrive, Prince Charles’ staff came to me and said they had decided that they wanted to invite them upstairs to their private residence for tea instead.’

Burch added that there was no private meeting from which to bar Jared or Ivanka in the first place. The couple are pictured with Prince Andrew during the 2019 visit

Burch noted that although she counts Grisham as a friend, she felt she needed to set the record straight to preserve the image of what she described as a ‘nice, pleasant visit.’

‘I like Stephanie, I have no issues with her and I’m friends with Stephanie. But that story is not true,’ she said.

After visiting Westminster Abbey at 3.10pm, the president and first lady were scheduled for ‘Tea with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall [Charles and Camilla] at Clarence House’ at 4pm and the state banquet back at Buckingham Palace three and a half hours later.

The ‘American Suite’ of presidential aides included the US ambassador to the UK Robert Johnson IV and his wife Suzanne, the treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, White House chief of staff John Mulvaney, national security advisor John Bolton, policy advisor Stephen Miller, and Jared and Ivanka in their roles as advisors to the president.

Also included was Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Daniel Scavino Jr.
