One of Australia’s biggest sports betting operations is hit with massive outage – leaving punters furious
- Australian betting giant Sportsbet suffered an online outage on Saturday night
- Frustrated punters took to Twitter wanting to know when issue would be fixed
- Many said issue had been lasting for two hours and they couldn’t even ‘cash-out’
One of the largest sports betting operations in Australia has been hit with an online outage – leaving thousands of punters unable to make bets while stuck in lockdown.
On Saturday night as a number of high profile games were underway – including NRL and AFL fixtures and the Wallabies taking on France in the third test – those trying to access the site were met with an error message.
‘Sorry, we’re temporarily out of action. We’re working hard to get back on track quickly,’ the login screen read.
The news is particularly devastating for New South Wales and Victorian residents stranded at home.

Twitter was flooded with sports fans venting their frustration.
‘I’m stuck in lockdown and can’t place a bet,’ one person said.
‘Any chance of an update, been over two hours now,’ another added.
‘I can’t even do a cash-out,’ a third added.
‘Sportsbet you need to learn the meaning of the word temporarily,’ a fourth user said at about 9.30pm.
The betting agency has not posted on their social media since about 5pm – though a post by Betfair owned by the same company said they were not offering NRL live markets in the UK because of the technical issue.
The service had been down for over two hours with user saying they were unable to “cash-out”
